What does a successful Data Analyst do?A successful Data Analyst at AIB Merchant Services helps deliver accurate, timely insights and reliable data solutions that support mission-critical payment platforms. They translate loosely defined requirements into robust technical solutions, support infrastructure rollouts and provide responsive analytics for urgent business needs. They collaborate across teams to improve systems, maintain high quality standards and drive continuous improvement in our data capabilities.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain mission-critical information extraction, analysis and management systems.
- Provide direct and responsive support for urgent analytic needs.
- Participate in architecture and software development activities to support platform upgrades and projects.
- Translate loosely defined requirements into practical, repeatable solutions.
- Use technologies and tools to deliver specific project use cases and custom workflows.
- Apply coding languages or scripting methodologies to automate processes and solve problems.
- Collaborate with project colleagues to design solutions for complex infrastructure, security or development challenges.
- Perform incremental testing on code, processes and deployments to streamline execution and reduce errors.
What you will need to have:
- Proficiency working in a database environment, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, and strong SQL skills.
- Practical experience with coding or scripting (for example Python, PowerShell or similar) and ETL/data integration approaches.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to provide a logical approach to problem solving.
- Effective communication, planning and project coordination skills with the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Commitment to professional and client service excellence and to keeping up to date with industry knowledge.
What would be great to have:
- Experience within payments, acquiring or merchant services, and familiarity with POS and eCommerce solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (for example Azure or AWS) and modern data architecture patterns.
- Experience with BI and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Prior involvement in infrastructure upgrades or project rollouts supporting technology applications.
- Exposure to automation, scripting frameworks and CI/CD practices for deployment testing.
