The Opportunity:
The Accounting Manager, will be responsible for coordinating the monthly close, reporting, and analysis for the Global HR function. This will include ensuring the accuracy of the HR financials and providing accounting guidance to the broader HR finance team. This role will serve as a leader helping to drive the quarterly forecast submissions and manage the Annual Business Plan (ABP) process. The individual will be a trusted business partner to senior leadership within the HR function helping to drive efficiencies throughout the organization.
What You Will Do:
- Lead the monthly close process for Global HR; ensuring accurate financials prior to submitting to Corporate
- Manage the quarterly forecast submission and annual budget process
- Effectively leading a team of analysts responsible for monthly and quarterly finance and accounting duties
- Effectively communicating financial results to functional VP’s and Executive leadership
- Oversight of various accounting, audit, and SOX related items
- Maintaining financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards
- Ensuring the accounting policies and practices of the organization are followed; working closely with internal auditors, public accountants, federal tax examiners, and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Drive improvements and efficiencies in financial analysis and reporting processes
- Collaborate across a variety of groups at Caterpillar, including finance, accounting, human resources, and business divisions
- Partner across the enterprise to support key projects related to Global Finance strategy initiatives
- Support the payroll and workday systems from an accounting and finance perspective
- Producing accurate and timely financial reports, for internal and external use, in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Skills needed for success in role:
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree within Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting and/or finance roles.
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
- Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
