The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer for Wiring to act as the single point of contact for all wiring-related concerns impacting the assembly plant. This role involves working on issues related to wire harnesses, collaborating with QE’s, Material, and DRE’s, managing audits, and implementing engineering updates and changes. The QE will work directly with the plant Electrical Team to ensure issues are properly managed and resolved.
What You'll Do:
- Communicate across all departments (E-mail, voicemail, text, calls, IM, Teams)
- Support GCA Electrical sufficiency
- Support all Electrical BoO elements
- Improve the process to support Electrical First-time quality goal of 94.5%
- Support other Electrical team members as needed/directed
- Provide and communicate feedback on changes or updates to the wire harnesses for follow up
- Attend 5F and other plant meetings
- Work with wiring DRE’s on problem solving related to wiring changes
- Work on continuous improvement (warranty, suggestions, PRTS)
- Support GA repair on electrical diagnostics and root cause analysis
- Problem solve issues related to wiring and create corrective actions to fix and contain
- Analyze and measure suspect harness components and utilize 3D math data to verify measurements and engineering data
- Support electrical processes in finding electrical concerns and use best practices to troubleshoot (wiring engineering concerns, ergo, safety, operator error)
- Communicate electrical defects such as components not being plugged in, routing issues etc. found at the end of line
- Lead electrical training courses
- Communicate with Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and Operators on the line about issues that arise
- Conduct audits to verify rosebuds are being seated correctly and connections are being made correctly
- Support electrical problem solvers with defects found in the plant and work to resolve issues
- Work with repair on unknown codes to find root cause and work back the system
- Work with Industrial Engineers to ensure APS is correct with job elements
- Perform a discovery disconnect on a vehicle and record all defects
- Provide a step-by-step guide for developing a Product Quality Standard (PQS) for Value Added Assembler (VAA) to ensure consistent quality and performance in vehicle assembly processes
- Write PRTSs on wiring-related issues found in the plant
- Write SPPSs on defects from suppliers and communicate issues with supplier reps
- Work with suppliers to resolve issues
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience as a Quality Engineer or related field
- Knowledge in GSIP & MERS
- Advanced statistical analysis skills and analytical ability
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture
- Understand the product quality standards
- Understanding engineering change process & PRTS’s
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
- Must be able to continually innovate
- Thorough working knowledge of GMS as well supporting BIQ4 Deliverables
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior manufacturing plant experience in either Electrical or Plant Floor Operations
- Quality system knowledge of processes in manufacturing
- Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements and how they impact the build process
- Be able to be flexible in daily tasks
