The Security Engineering Program (SEP), under Homeland at Leidos, currently has an opening within the Professional Services Support (PSS) Program for an Electrical Distribution Engineer with Journeyman Experience. The candidate will be responsible for planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems to support power delivery infrastructure development. This role requires balancing economic, environmental, social, and regulatory constraints and reliability needs while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems, including underground cable/conduit installations.
Conducting field engineering assessments to determine project requirements and identify conflicting utilities.
Performing engineering and design calculations to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Conducting post-construction reviews to validate project outcomes and compliance.
Managing large-scale projects or processes that span multiple technical areas and have a significant impact on program outcomes.
Developing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges that affect multiple disciplines.
Collaborating with internal team members across various areas and external stakeholders, including sub- contractors and vendors.
Influencing project and team leaders regarding solution design, processes, and approaches. This position requires expert knowledge of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts, as well as the ability to apply them creatively to achieve functional objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Formal training and certification in power engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in testing, inspecting, installing, modifying, operating, and maintaining power generation, power distribution, and power grounding systems.
Experience with the installation and maintenance of low-voltage single and multi-phase wiring and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for communications equipment.
Knowledge of power, grounding, and electromagnetic compatibility principles and techniques.
Familiarity with applicable national codes (e.g., National Electrical Code, National Electrical Manufacturers Association) and local utility and safety codes (e.g., National Fire Protection Association).
Active State Journeyman Electrician License
Valid state-issued driver’s license.
Desired Skills:
Experience with electrical continuity for telecom and/or radio communication systems.
Knowledge of power generation continuity principles and techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and leadership.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
