Job Description
The Tonight Show is seeking Researcher to work with all day-to-day operations as outlined below. This is a Run of Show position that will support the Production with a variety of administrative and functional responsibilities not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Create extensive and thorough research packets on upcoming show guests.
- Find potential discussion topics for guest interviews that align with the voice of the show.
- Become the main source of accurate information about assigned guests.
- Conceive games, bits and unique beats for guests based on research.
- Work with segment producers to find material to support guest segments.
- Daily review of new information to keep up to date on guests.
- Fact-check and proofread material for show.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 2 years production experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a research role.
- Windows and Mac proficient, knowledge of video file formats, video transcoding, video editing, must be Internet savvy with strong research skills.
- Willingness to work long hours and on weekends with short notice.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Strong editorial voice only selecting the best clips of the day.
Desired Characteristics:
- Candidate must be able to work in high-pressure situations and on deadline.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize simultaneous research assignments.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A self-starter with strong attention to detail.
- Previous talk show or news experience a plus.
- Knowledge of clip libraries and stock footage sources a plus.
- Knowledge of pop culture, politics, and Internet culture.
- Ability to work under constant deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment as a member of a daily production team.

- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

- Hourly salary range: $17.50 - $20.00
- The candidate who fills this position will be paid at least 60 hours per week regardless of whether they work less than 60 hours. Hours over 40 hrs/wk will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate.
