As an Appian Tester, you will be responsible for validating the functionality, performance, and security of Appian applications. This role focuses on creating and executing test plans, identifying defects, and ensuring that applications meet business requirements and quality standards. You will work closely with developers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to support both production releases and new development projects, ensuring seamless user experience and robust application performance.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Test Planning: Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Appian applications based on business and technical requirements.
- Functional Testing: Execute manual and automated tests to validate workflows, interfaces, and integrations within Appian.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Azure DevOps or similar platforms; collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Regression Testing: Perform regression testing for new releases and updates to ensure existing functionality remains intact.
- Performance Testing: Validate application performance under various conditions and recommend optimizations where necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts and developers to clarify requirements and ensure accurate test coverage. Participate in meetings with stakeholders if necessary to get clarification on flow of operations.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed test documentation, including test results, defect logs, and quality metrics.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to testing processes and contribute to best practices for Appian quality assurance.
- Agile Practices: Participate in Agile ceremonies and integrate testing activities into iterative development cycles.
- Security Testing: Ensure compliance with data security standards and validate secure application behavior.
- This is a remote role, but may require travel up to 10% of the time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. If hired into this position, the employee must also reside in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3–5 years of experience in software testing, including Appian applications, or a High School Diploma with 7+ years of experience in testing in lieu of degree.
- Hands-on experience testing Appian applications, including process models, interfaces, and integrations.
- Ability to create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for complex workflows and integrations.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (or similar tools) for defect tracking and test management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly document defects and communicate testing results to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appian Developer Certification
- Experience with applications related to government services.
- Physical Asset Management experience and integrations using APIs.
- Experience with Appian-specific testing tools or automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of low-code platforms and their testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with API testing and integration validation.
- Experience with SQL for data validation and backend testing.
- Understanding of Agile development practices and experience working in iterative development environments.
