We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience operating a range of manual equipment, including milling machines, lathes, and grinders. This position requires a complete knowledge of machine shop theory, advanced shop mathematics, and the ability to work with extremely close tolerances (e.g., 0.0005"). The Manual Machinist must be a clear and effective communicator, willing to work overtime as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, set up, and adjust all basic types of machines and tools, including mills, lathes, boring mills, and grinders, to produce precise parts.
- Work with extremely close tolerances (e.g., 0.0005" to 0.001") while meeting designated project time frames.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to determine project specifications and tolerances.
- Possess and apply a complete knowledge of machine shop theory, practice, and procedure, as well as advanced shop mathematics.
- Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to verify in-process hardware to required tolerances and dimensions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status, material needs, and equipment issues.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complete necessary documentation and production logs as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Manual Machinist.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating milling machines, lathes, boring mills, and grinders.
- Thorough understanding of machine shop theory, practice, and procedure.
- Proficiency in advanced shop mathematics.
- Proven ability to work with extremely tight tolerances (0.0005" to 0.001").
- Must have valid driver’s licenses with a clean record. Please do not inquire without a clean driving record.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as required by production needs.

Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and CNC equipment such as CNC lathe and CNC milling machines (Fanuc control preferred)
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to produce precise parts
- Program CNC machines using CAM programming software and perform CNC programming adjustments as needed
- Set up and calibrate tooling, fixtures, and precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Perform electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required for complex components
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and tooling to assemble parts or modify components
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety protocols
- Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development and tooling design using SolidWorks and CAD software
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize machining processes and reduce waste
Skills
- Proven experience in manual machining with proficiency in CNC programming and operation
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding, and assembly processes
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, CAD programs, and CNC control systems like Fanuc
- Ability to operate precision measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes, tooling setup, and maintenance of CNC lathe/milling machines
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and programming adjustments
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, forklift operation, and tooling management
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvement initiatives
Pay: $26.20 - $31.55 per hour
