Annual Salary Range: $71,800 - $105,900
The successful candidate’s placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position develops, writes, and modifies programming and scripting for the development, integration and maintenance of computerized Geographic Information System (GIS) applications and programs. Creates standalone static maps for use in project planning and understanding data geographically. Maintains, creates, and distributes web applications. Update existing GIS data
Duties include, but are not limited to the following
- Maintains and updates a GIS master database of land base and utility infrastructure. Performs Coordinate Geometry (COGO) Mapping. Research and analyze engineering and real estate records to update GIS data per legal descriptions, engineering plans, as-builts, field checks, work orders and reports.
- Creates and updates land base and utility control maps, supports civil engineering projects, extracts GIS data and delivers GIS maps to the public, city departments, outside agencies, and internal/external stake holders. Responds to public record requests and maintains status through the data request portal.
- Performs GIS data and SQL database analysis on existing city-maintained assets for a variety of projects involving utilities and their replacement or maintenance. Performs large-scale corrective processes of the GIS database for software transitions, and creating specialized and custom GIS datasets, databases, layers and coverages.
- Assists in the development of asset management system applications specific to city departments.
- Prepares documents with standard operation procedures and trains staff in the process steps for using GIS portions of an asset management application. Provides assistance with any questions related to application use for mapping and GIS data maintenance purposes.
- Provides technical support to field workers and supervisors for accessing GIS tools
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience Geographic Information System or Computer-Aided Design production mapping, or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Equivalent to an associate or vocational/technical school degree in Geographic Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or related field.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor’s degree).
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification is preferred.
- GIS Certificate is preferred.
