The Lead Irrigation Technician will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems with a strong commitment to quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and water efficiency. This role requires hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This is a full-time year-round (union) position.
- Install, inspect, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems, including valves, controllers, drip lines, and sprinkler heads.
- Perform system startups, winterizations, and seasonal adjustments.
- Recommend efficiency improvements.
- Diagnose and identify issues within the system, above and below ground.
- Read and interpret blueprints, irrigation plans, and specifications.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards and company quality guidelines.
- Communicate professionally with clients and team members regarding project status, recommendations, and service needs.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Operate tools, machinery, and service vehicles safely and responsibly, including underground.
Qualifications
- 3 plus years of professional irrigation experience required.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Spanish speakers encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and related technologies.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex irrigation issues.
- Familiarity with major brands (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Weathermatic).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Backflow certification (preferred but not required).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent high-quality work.
- Good knowledge of trenchers, multi-meters, wire locators, ditchers and pipe sizing are also essential.
