Role Definition:
We are looking for an organized, self-starting Leader to join our team as a Production Manager at LPSD's Fuel Systems Manufacturing Operations in Pontiac, IL. This role is accountable for providing daily direction and organizational leadership for hourly associates in both Manufacturing and Heat Treat value streams. As a production manager, you will be leading a group of machinists and heat treat technicians to drive improvements in a very dynamic and exciting work environment. This role will help own value stream budgets, resource allocation, staffing strategies and relentless pursuit of our SPQVC excellence.
What You Will Do:
- Spearhead crisp execution of key shipments, aligning manpower strategies, support resource needs and material movement to fulfill customer demand
- Relentlessly execute production schedules to start and finish on-time and in sequence, filling strategic buffers and ensuring material availability at Assembly Point of Use
- Find and fix broken processes to reduce scrap and rework
- Create reports and records of production throughput; share them with managers and provide suggestions to improve safety, productivity, and quality.
- Prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of production lines workers, assign tasks, ensure coordination between different teams, ensure their safety and monitor their performance.
- Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, monitor safety, and promote internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
What You Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing operations experience.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Breaks tasks into manageable steps that can be incorporated into a personal work plan.
- Monitors progress continuously and adjusts tactics for handling situations on a case-by-case basis.
Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
- Supervises daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.
- Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.
- Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.
- Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
- Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality.
- Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as defect walk-backs and inspections.
Additional Information:
- AWS Weekend 1st shift: Friday – Sunday 6:00AM – 6:00PM, with OT as needed.
- This position requires the selected candidate to work on-site five days a week in the Pontiac, IL facility.

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
