The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN currently has an opening for a Inventory Specialist.
An Inventory Specialist will work with the Supplier Quality team to manage non-conforming material that is routed in and out of BMRC. They will ensure material is stored safely and correctly, ensure material is flowing in and out of BMRC at an efficient rate, and organize the BMRC space. They will also help keep track of what material has physically arrived at BMRC for traceability purposes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Learning Caterpillar Systems and using them appropriately (BlueZone, etc.)
- Computer Skills – Microsoft Teams, Email
- Strong customer focus approach, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse groups
- Manage ordering, processing, storing, and routing material
- Manage and oversee shipping and receiving of material in and out of BMRC
- Liaison communications between LEC and CLS pertaining to non-conforming parts and Supplier Quality
- Multiple systems interactions
- Adding and removing holds on material
- Coordinate expedited parts needed for sort/containment in BMRC
- Manage aged inventory, grief material, and leading reconciliation and investigating root cause
- Supporting and leading inventory problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement
- Accountable for tracking quality metrics and meeting quality goals
- Occasionally utilizing heavy equipment, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts and overhead cranes
- Occasionally perform material handling and warehousing functions as required
Basic Qualifications:
- 6 plus months warehouse inventory or parts distribution experience
- Competent with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Competent with Q-Net/BlueZone (ex. EIMS)
- Computer Literacy
- Good attendance record
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records
- Ability to work OT when required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Safety & Quality focused
- Time management skills
- Ability to collaborate with other teams (quality, operations, engineering, etc.) on multiple shifts
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to bend and twist at the waist and be able to squat.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Consistent usage of required PPE for task being performed
- Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
- Standing and/or sitting at a desk while performing tasks
Additional Information:
- Position is for 1st shift – 6:30am to 2:30pm
- Location of this position is in Lafayette, IN

- 13 days / 104 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO) - (Prorated based upon start date)

Summary Pay Range:
$22.65 - $29.45
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
