About the Team
We're a fast-paced start-up-like team working on one of Workday's newest innovative products, Workday Scheduling. Workday Scheduling enables employers to schedule their workforce efficiently while also empowering workers to take ownership over their availability and preferences. Our product consists of a sophisticated user experience (browser & mobile) and an engine that leverages artificial intelligence to calculate an efficient work schedule that satisfies the needs of both employers and workers. About the Role
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our QA team in a hybrid role that balances hands-on functional testing with test automation development. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into product behavior, validating features end-to-end, and steadily growing their automation expertise.
You will work closely with developers, product managers, QAs and other SDETs to ensure features are delivered with high quality and confidence.
Ideal candidate should have:
Strong experience in functional, regression, and exploratory testing with solid feature-level coverage.
Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automated tests using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
Strong debugging skills to analyze failures, find root causes, and support timely fixes.
Proactively learns new QA/automation practices and suggests incremental improvements.
Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote/distributed environment.
About You
Responsibilities:
Perform thorough testing to validate new features and enhancements.
Design, develop, and maintain automated tests using JavaScript/TypeScript-based frameworks.
Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and define test coverage.
Identify, debug, and report defects clearly, including root cause analysis where possible.
Assist in triaging test failures and addressing flaky or unstable tests.
Participate in code reviews and QA discussions to improve test quality and consistency.
Document test scenarios, edge cases, and quality risks.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in QA, test automation, or software development.
Hands-on experience with manual/functional testing of web applications.
Proficiency in writing and maintaining automated tests in TypeScript.
Experience working with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, WebdriverIO, and Cypress.
Working knowledge of element locators (XPath, CSS selectors).
Experience supporting automated testing in continuous integration and delivery environments. (Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar).
Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with web technologies (HTML / CSS / JavaScript)
Exposure to mobile testing and mobile automation.
Exposure to performance, load or security testing.
Experience working in an agile/scrum environment.
