Job Description
Caterpillar’s Global Planning & Demand Management organization plays a vital role in translating global customer demand into accurate, validated, and orderable machine configurations. We collaborate closely with dealers, Product Groups, Engineering, Pricing, Configuration Management, and IT partners to ensure stable order execution, prevent downstream grief, and support smooth PLCN cycles.
Our work enables high‑quality ordering experiences, stable configuration outcomes, and operational excellence across Caterpillar’s global machine and work Tools business. The Opportunity
The Demand & Order Analyst is responsible to develop and maintain Caterpillar machines &work tools product compatibility in the ERP based business process. Ensure smooth order processing across Caterpillar’s global systems (SAP Variant configuration, Teamcenter Product configurator, Pricing)
The role requires strong coordination with cross‑functional partners, analytical judgement, and the ability to manage configuration and order dependencies across product lines.
This position directly contributes to customer satisfaction, Price list change notice (PLCN) stability, error-free ordering, and continuous improvement of global planning processes.
What You Will Do
Product Configuration Alignment Responsibilities
Comply with standards developed by Technical Analysts for product configuration in ERP systems.
Develop and maintain sales model product compatibility.
Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) groups and create compatibility for all NPI products.
Interact with Engineering personnel to ensure feature/part compatibility is accurate and clearly defined.
Coordinate with Pricing teams to align feature codes with pricing condition entries.
Support scheduled releases of product compatibility updates for internal/external users.
Respond promptly to Local Change Coordinators / Material Master Owners for engineering change notices or BOM synchronization updates.
Work with team members to develop and maintain standards for feature presentation and product compatibility.
Manage completion of work assignments and coordinate activities with other team members effectively.
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
Communicate risks early; support root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and knowledge bases.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and Price list change notice (PLCN) reporting.
Identify recurring issues and contribute to long‑term process improvements.
What You Have
Technical Excellence
Thorough understanding of Caterpillar products and applications.
Deep knowledge of product configuration concepts and compatibility management.
Experience with enterprise systems (SAP Variant configuration, Teamcenter Product configurator, Pricing related systems)
Strong analytical capability and the ability to evaluate multiple solution paths.
Experience as a Product Configuration Analyst (preferred and advantageous).

Document order issues and customer concerns clearly and promptly.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/production/manufacturing engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in demand planning, order management, or configuration.
Prior Product Configuration Analyst experience required.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Ability to guide, influence, and communicate with cross‑functional teams globally.
Experience with multiple systems or equivalent technical knowledge is expected.
