Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the API Services team within the Product Engineering organization. The API Services team’s mission is to build highly available, high throughput services that are critical to delivering high quality content to our subscribers.

Technologies include NGINX, Lua, Redis, Python, and AWS (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, WAF, among others). Experience in these areas is preferred but not required.
Qualifications:
- You collaborate with team members and project management to identify requirements, and provide technical solutions and direction.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and being part of conversations where discordant views are present.
- You have an excellent understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture, and you aren't dogmatic about technology choices.
- You have experience with writing unit and integration tests, and can create a robust testing strategy.
- You have significant knowledge/experience with web technologies and web systems architecture
- You have significant working knowledge of Java, Scala, and associated technologies.
- You have significant experience building and maintaining highly automated systems that leverage tools such as Jenkins, Cloud Formation, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker
- You preferably have knowledge/experience with AWS products and services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.) or other cloud providers.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
- Collaborate with senior internal team members and external stakeholders to gather requirements and drive the implementation of solutions that support our business goals
- Design and develop test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and reporting tools to support the flagship streaming mobile apps Disney+ and Hulu.
- Continuously identify and pursue opportunities to enhance systems, products, or services with each iteration.
- Advocate engineering best practices, including the use of design patterns, code review, and automated unit/functional testing
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training or work experience

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,000.00 - $199,000.00 per year, in San Francisco CA is $155,400.00 - $199,400.00 per year and in Santa Monica, CA is $141,900.00 - $190,400.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
