Job Description Summary
Dowty Propellers, a GE Aerospace company specializing in the repair and overhaul of propellers for C130J aircraft, Dash 8 aircraft, and LCAC hovercraft, is seeking a Manufacturing Training Leader.
As Manufacturing Training Leader, you will support the site through two primary functions: providing on-the-floor quality and procedural training to production personnel as part of the site training program, and supporting daily quality operations by performing inspections, surveillance, and coverage during Quality Inspector absences, while proactively identifying potential quality escapes during routine operations. This position does not include management, supervisory, or disciplinary responsibilities and operates under the direction of the Sr Operations Manager in alignment with approved procedures, work instructions, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Training and On-the-Floor Quality Support
- Deliver on-the-job quality training to production personnel in accordance with approved training plans, procedures, and work instructions.
- Reinforce correct workmanship standards, inspection techniques, documentation practices, and quality requirements on the shop floor.
- Support initial, recurrent, and remedial training activities as assigned by the Quality Leader or Training organization.
- Provide real-time guidance to employees on quality expectations while work is being performed, without assuming supervisory authority.
- Assist in the development, revision, and validation of training materials, job aids, and visual standards as directed.
- Document training activities and provide feedback to the Quality Leader and Training organization regarding training effectiveness or observed gaps.
Quality Inspection and Operational Surveillance
- Perform quality inspections and verification tasks consistent with the Quality Inspector role when providing coverage during absences or workload fluctuations.
- Conduct routine surveillance of ongoing operations to identify potential quality escapes, non-conformances, or process deviations.
- Verify compliance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Report identified quality concerns, trends, or risks through established quality reporting systems.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions by providing factual observations and data when requested.
- Assist with audits, assessments, and customer or regulatory visits as assigned.

Scope and Authority
- This position has no supervisory, managerial, or disciplinary authority.
- Does not assign work, evaluate performance, approve time, or issue corrective action to employees.
- Operates strictly within established procedures, training programs, and quality systems.
- All findings, recommendations, and training activities are coordinated through the Quality Leader.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years manufacturing, quality, and/or training experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, quality, and/or training experience.
- This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated quality experience across multiple production gates or operational areas within the business (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of applicable Dowty Propellers CMMs, QCMs, QOPs, Service Bulletins (SBs), Technical Bulletins (TBs), and related quality documentation.
- Proven ability to identify potential quality escapes, process deviations, and compliance risks during routine inspection and operational surveillance.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, procedures, and work instructions applicable to Dowty Propellers products and processes.
- Effective verbal communication skills to provide on-the-floor quality guidance and procedural clarification to peers, without supervisory authority.
- Familiarity with internal quality systems, audit processes, and nonconformance reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, observational skills, and sound judgment.
- Flexibility to support training activities, inspection coverage, and operational surveillance based on business needs and shift requirements.
- Minimum of 36 months quality inspection experience within Dowty Propellers preferred.
