As the Metrology Engineer at our Auburn, AL site, you will be responsible for proving the validity and technical feasibility of measurement-related concepts through the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. You will focus on demonstrating the performance and implementation potential of metrology systems and processes through rigorous testing, analysis, and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in measurement science, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure precision and accuracy in all measurement activities.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Concept Validation: Conduct activities aimed at proving the validity and feasibility of measurement-related concepts by applying scientific and engineering principles
- Testing and Analysis: Design, execute, and document tests to evaluate the performance, accuracy, and reliability of metrology systems and processes
- Measurement System Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality standards
- Alicona Vision Machine Ownership: Serve as the primary owner of the Alicona vision machine, ensuring its optimal performance, reliability, and accuracy
- Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of the Alicona machine
- Training and Capability Building: Train team members on the proper use and operation of the Alicona equipment, fostering organizational capability and ensuring consistent application of measurement techniques
- Data Interpretation: Analyze test results and measurement data to draw conclusions, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements or next steps
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of metrology solutions
- Problem Solving: Identify technical challenges in measurement systems and propose innovative solutions to address them
- Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of metrology methodologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience/ strong understanding of measurement science, metrology equipment, and testing methodologies
- At least 3 years of experience in Metrology, Testing, and/or Concept Validation in a Technical or Engineering environment
