Job Description Summary
The Back-End Discounts Senior Controllership Leader is a critical and highly visible role that partners closely with Product Line Finance, Crediting COE Center of Excellence and Operations to develop, manage, and account for our Spares back-end rebates across all engine lines. This role will lead 3 analysts and serve as a key influencer across the value stream, with accountability for accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to enable accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting and analysis.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Closing, reporting and processing of various back-end discounts in Spares new material & component repair.
- Alignment to various customer teams relative to various MSA contracts
- Provide input to balance sheet reviews, including pre-close and deep dives relative to back-end discounts
- Develop and implement simplification initiatives for back-end discounts accounting, closing and reporting.
- Development and/or support of digital tools to improve data collection, reporting, and processing of back-end discounts along with reducing manual touches, all while continuing to standardize
- Will lead small projects, applying FLIGHT DECK principles. Developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. May handle sensitive issues.
- Lead and adhere to monthly, quarterly and annual SOX controls
- Ability to explain differences of actual rebates versus estimated reserves relative to specific contracts
- Understand, interpret, and maintain applicable Enterprise Standards, SOPs and Process Maps
- Ad-hoc research and projects to support business needs, including timely resolution of issues
- Responsible for ensuring alignment to GAAP and GE policies throughout the accounting process.
- Support FP&A counterparts & Product line Finance for accessing and understanding data needed for discounts forecasts
- Account reconciliation review
- External audit contact relative to back-end discounts
- Serve as CFM56 product line controller and main point of contact for CES controllership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in accounting/finance
- People Leadership experience
- Strong systems and/or automation tools acumen
- Strong data analysis skillset
- Strong problem-solving skillset
