About the Role
We are seeking a Six Sigma Black Belt who thrives at the intersection of data, process excellence, and leadership. In this role, you will lead high‑impact improvement initiatives that directly influence business performance, quality, and customer satisfaction. You will serve as a change leader and technical expert, applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to solve complex problems, elevate organizational capability, and deliver sustainable results across manufacturing and business processes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning outcomes, mentoring others, and translating analysis into action.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and manage a portfolio of Six Sigma and Lean improvement projects, delivering measurable gains in quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency
Design and deploy Six Sigma tools, systems, and standards that embed continuous improvement into daily operations
Apply DMAIC rigor to identify root causes, eliminate waste and variation, and sustain process improvements
Coach and mentor Green Belts, providing technical guidance, training, and project support
Partner with cross‑functional teams and leaders to align improvement work with business priorities
Translate data into insight, using statistical and analytical tools to guide fact‑based decisions
Influence change without authority, building trust and momentum across diverse stakeholder groups
What You Bring:
Problem Solving – Demonstrates a structured, practical approach to identifying and resolving operational and process challenges.
Clearly defines problems, documents options, and evaluates alternative solutions
Considers multiple stakeholder perspectives to understand the full problem context
Uses fact‑finding and diagnostic tools to assess data quality, risks, and trade‑offs

Six Sigma Methodology – Applies Six Sigma DMAIC fundamentals to drive measurable improvements and eliminate root causes.
Selects meaningful metrics aligned to business priorities
Uses core Six Sigma tools (trend analysis, Pareto charts, basic statistical methods) to assess performance
Demonstrates the ability to investigate root causes affecting quality and customer satisfaction through fish-bone analysis
Delivers cost‑effective improvements and monitors performance to sustain gains
Interpersonal Relationships – Works effectively across teams and levels to build trust, collaboration, and shared ownership of outcomes.
Adapts communication style to different people and situations
Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and ways of working
Demonstrates the ability to clarify roles and responsibilities to support effective teamwork
Recognizes how interactions influence results and team dynamics
Analytical Thinking – Uses logical, data‑driven thinking to understand complex situations and guide decisions.

Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
