Overview
Irrigation technicians install, test, and maintain irrigation equipment including sprinklers, pumps, water lines, and solenoid valves. Irrigation technicians may also be required to operate heavy machinery for trenching and install wiring systems for irrigation timers.

Responsibilities
Completing assignments from Irrigation Manager.
- Inspecting and loading equipment for the day’s work
- Driving to the client’s location.
- Testing the soil and vegetation to determine irrigation needs.
- Mapping out areas for irrigation installation.
- Digging trenches and installing pipes and lines.
- Installing pumps and electrical timers.
- Testing the irrigation system with the aid of computer software.
- Conducting routine maintenance checks.
- Troubleshooting and replacing faulty parts.
- Completing progress reports and associated paperwork.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have a valid Driver’s license
• At lease 1 year of similar experience required
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
