KBR has an opportunity for a mid-level Systems Administrator. The position provides systems administration engineering support to the Mission Control Center (MCC) Operations and Training Systems within the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate on the Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC). The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the operations, on-going and new IT Initiatives and upgrades, evaluation for new software, and support for all production, staging, development, and disaster recovery environments.
Responsibilities may include:
• Managing the appropriate configuration baseline of operating systems, software applications, and security compliance including threat detections and investigations
• Working with monitoring and performance tools
• Assess and interpret requirements of systems and applications in relation to hardware, software and operational needs
• Implement efficiencies through automation (leverage PowerShell, Power CLI, or Ansible to automate manual and repetitive processes)
• Investigate new technology and provide recommendations on system improvements and life cycle planning.
Basic Qualifications:
• B.S degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field plus 5-10+ years of experience
• Experience in Windows and/or Linux Operating System
• Familiar in at least one high-level scripting language is a plus (e.g. Bash, VBScript, Jscript, PowerShell, Perl, BigFix ActionScript) required
• Familiar with an automation & system management product is a plus (e.g. BigFix, SCCM, Ansible Automation Platform, or similar tools)
• Familiar with heterogeneous platform management between Windows and Linux (SSH, Samba, Kerberos, LDAP) a plus
• Understanding of container-based applications (Docker)
• Experience in system automation practices (Group Policy, Local GPO, and Registry)
• Experience with basic TCP/IP (addressing, subnetting, routing, firewall rules, DHCP, DNS)
