Role Definition:
At Caterpillar, we solve our customers’ toughest challenges while building a better, more sustainable world. As a MineStar Performance Engineer, you will be at the core of both staffed and autonomous mining operations, partnering closely with customers to elevate safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
This role sits within the MineStar Performance Center, with a key focus on optimizing the performance of MineStar Fleet and Command for Hauling applications across the region. You’ll work directly with customers, dealers, and internal teams to drive measurable improvements using data, assessments, and performance tools - and act on opportunities that unlock value.

What will you do:
- Support safe, effective performance for MineStar Fleet and Command for Hauling customers.
- Lead and deliver Site Assessments, continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, and performance tool implementations.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to Caterpillar teams, dealers, and mining customers.
- Advise customers on operational best practices and CI opportunities to unlock higher performance.
- Maintain and update operational documentation to reflect best practices and performance insights.
- Collaborate with internal product, engineering, and support teams to enhance technology offerings.
- Support both contractual and non-contractual customer performance commitments.
Skills:
Safety Driven: A strong personal safety culture with the ability to influence safe behaviours across diverse mine sites.
Technical Excellence: Experience in surface mining Operations; Knowledge of MineStar Fleet, Command for Hauling, or other mining technologies; Strong understanding of operational excellence and mining processes.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Ability: Experience using performance improvement methodologies; Comfort working across diverse themes - data analysis, coding, validation, documentation, coaching, project management.
Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal skills; Strong change‑management mindset; Ability to build relationships and influence customers toward improvement.
Willingness to Learn: Commitment to expanding your expertise across additional MineStar applications.
Basic requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, or IT
- Pre Advanced English
Top Candidates will also have:
- 5+ years working in conventional or autonomous surface mining operations
- Experience with mining technology systems or heavy mining equipment
- Fluency in English
Additional Information:
- Travel required (25–50%) to Caterpillar offices and remote mine locations.
Note: This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week.
