Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Join a global team shaping the future of mining performance.
The Mining Performance Centre (MPC) is expanding, and we’re looking for a high‑impact, versatile Senior Technology Site Consultant to join our team. If you’re passionate about elevating mining productivity, partnering with world‑class customers, and driving the adoption of advanced technologies, this is your opportunity to influence the industry at scale.
As part of the MPC, you will collaborate directly with the world’s leading mining companies and Caterpillar dealer networks to help define, implement, and optimise high‑performance MineStar® operations. This is a role for those who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to make a measurable difference in how modern mines operate.
Why This Role Matters
In this position, you will be front‑line in transforming mining operations—bringing MineStar® expertise to sites around the world, guiding customers through performance evaluations, and deploying best‑practice operational strategies that drive real results. You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of mines, technologies, cultures, and challenges, representing Caterpillar’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead MineStar® performance engagements with key regional customers, conducting site assessments and executing detailed performance improvement plans.
Consult with internal teams, dealers, and customers on mining productivity, equipment management, and application best practices.
Guide strategic direction for problem management, operational controls, and business processes across assigned accounts.
Develop and strengthen relationships with customers and dealer partners to maximise MineStar® value and operational sustainability.
Tailor application strategies that enhance technology adoption and performance outcomes.
Operate with high autonomy, setting priorities and leading work without daily supervision.
Solve complex, unique operational challenges, often requiring original thinking and customised approaches.
Travel extensively— up to potentially two full weeks per month—to remote mine sites and partner locations as needed.
What You Bring
Required Background & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
5–10 years of open‑pit or underground mining experience.
Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience with fleet management technologies such as Cat MineStar® or equivalent systems.
Deep understanding of mining operations, applications, and productivity principles.
Valid manual Australian Driver’s License.
Ability to work effectively across cultures, organisations, and diverse technical environments.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to influence and resolve operational challenges.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced technical knowledge and demonstrated leadership capability.
Strong financial and analytical acumen.
Proven experience managing projects in complex operational settings.
Ability to lead change, communicate effectively, and work independently.
Experience developing or modifying operational processes and controls.
Top Candidates May Also Have
MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
Six Sigma or continuous improvement certification.
Deep knowledge of Caterpillar machines, MineStar® applications, and dealer operations.
Who You Are
You’re a driven, adaptable mining professional who thrives in environments full of variety, challenge, and opportunity. You enjoy building strong relationships, tackling complex problems, and working with cutting‑edge technologies that make mining safer, smarter and more productive. You’re as comfortable at a remote mine site as you are in strategic planning sessions.
Benefits:
Competitive remuneration package including a great bonus structure and share options.
Intentional career development with exposure to global teams and markets.
A strong commitment to safety and your wellbeing
An inclusive workplace culture focused on quality, customer service and the environment
A commitment to diversity and inclusion, equal opportunity, and equal outcome
The opportunity to do truly meaningful work in a supportive, constructive culture that encourages you to make the most of your talents.
