Critical Environment Management Lead
What this job involves:
This is a pivotal leadership role to implement and drive JLL’s Critical Environment Management best practices and continuous improvement across the South Asia Hub (SA HUB), covering Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia & Vietnam. The Critical Environment Lead must leverage technical, operational, and people leadership to deliver safe, resilient, and innovative outcomes for complex client environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the management of critical environments (CEM) across multiple countries, ensuring 24x7 business continuity, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Protect the health and safety of all staff, partners, and stakeholders, through the development and enforcement of critical guidelines, procedures, and escalation frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations on fire, health, and safety standards; uphold JLL and client policies, audit programs, and EOS community initiatives.
- Lead or coordinate change management and continuous improvement in critical environment (CE) practices, engineering documentation, and solutions adoption across the region.
- Conduct audits to verify critical safety controls (including BCP/DR, incident escalation, life safety systems) are deployed and effective in all locations.
- Support sales and solutions teams with subject matter expertise (SME)—translate site experience into winning IFM proposals and value propositions for new and existing accounts.
- Drive the piloting and scaling of innovative and digital technologies that improve engineering operations, resilience, automation, and cost effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver training and ensure team readiness at regional and country level for all CEM-related protocols, asset management, and engineering best practices.
- Prepare and maintain best-in-class engineering playbooks, SOPs, and change documentation for SA HUB facilities and critical assets.
- Support Engineering product/service development in response to evolving market and regulatory needs.
- Act as SME for critical environments (data centers, trading floors, labs, R&D, cleanrooms, manufacturing, public safety, or business-critical buildings).
- Provide thought leadership, present externally on CE topics, and support the regional Director Engineering Operations (SA HUB) with strategic plans and business development.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years (flexible) in engineering leadership roles, of which at least 4 years managing critical environments in any of the following: data centers, industrial sites (manufacturing/plants), high-availability utility, energy, aerospace, defense, public safety, or large-scale hospital/campus settings.
- Regional Experience: Demonstrated responsibility for multi-country operations or national lead roles involving regional project, contractor, or standards harmonization. Candidates with strong national coverage and significant cross-border project delivery will be considered.
- Education: Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines with substantial critical facility/industrial experience may be considered).
- Technical Skills: Hands-on leadership in at least THREE of: BMS, HVAC/ACMV, electrical distribution, life safety systems, industrial automation, asset lifecycle management, CMMS/digital O&M, or utilities management.
- People Leadership: Experience building and managing geographically-dispersed, cross-functional technical teams (direct and/or matrixed); experience in integrated facilities management (IFM) a strong asset.
- Compliance & Risk: Deep familiarity with EHS, statutory, and technical compliance standards; proven track record leading safety-critical or regulated operations.
- Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for both technical and senior executive/stakeholder audiences.
Desirable/Preferred
- Prior direct experience with data centers, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, regulated utility/energy, or public safety sectors.
- Experience leading critical environment recovery/incident management and business continuity planning.
- Practitioner or advanced user of CMMS, BMS, IoT technologies for maintenance and risk management.
- Exposure to leading digital transformation, operational excellence, commissioning/re-commissioning, or multi-site engineering programs.
- Professional Engineering status or advanced safety/engineering certifications preferred.
- Success supporting business growth through engineering SME and technical solutions development.
