As a Staff Firmware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge memory and storage technologies that push the limits of innovation. In this position, you will develop high‑performance controller firmware for both volatile and non‑volatile memory systems. You will contribute to the evaluation, design, development, bench testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware for next‑generation memory controllers and solid-state drives (SSDs). Your work will help enhance system performance while reducing power consumption, latency, and overall SoC (System-on-Chip) complexity across multiple target sectors.
Responsibilities:

Develop and optimize embedded firmware for cutting-edge storage solutions using machine language, assembly, C, and C++.

Analyze, program, debug, and modify firmware while troubleshooting across analog/digital hardware and multiple operating environments.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver robust firmware features.

Lead and mentor engineers to uphold high-quality standards and strengthen team performance.

Diagnose and resolve complex firmware issues while effectively prioritizing tasks to meet project timelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.

5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.

Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python and scripting tools.

In-depth knowledge of storage interfaces, particularly PCIe/NVMe.

Hands-on experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical subject, or equivalent work experience.

Prior experience in the storage industry, specifically with SSD, HDD, or storage systems.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience in team leadership and mentoring of engineers early in their careers.

Strong understanding of storage systems and their interplay with firmware.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$127,000.00 - $269,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
