We are looking for a construction machinery professional to join our Midwest Core Region team as a Machine Sales Representative working within the Caterpillar’s Customer Solutions Core Regions Division. This role will have responsibility for Ziegler Cat and Butler Machinery Company
What You Will Do
Set and achieve machine annual business plans for percentage of industry sales with assigned dealers in the region (PINS)
Collaborate with dealer partners to execute ongoing sales and orders process cadences
Manage region sales variance to target
Build relationships with customers in the region to identify areas for growth, drive customer satisfaction, technology adoption, and attachment sales opportunities

Effective Communication – Communicates well downward, upward, and outward; Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience and provide feedback and coaching to others’ presentations.
Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
University degree in business and/or engineering
Experience in construction equipment industry sales
Related experience in product support, quality and/or and engineering roles
Prior field based or dealer facing experience
Project management and consulting skills
Knowledge and understanding of how CAT machines operate
Additional Information
This role travels frequently to dealer locations (50-70%) in the following states: Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota
Location: The selected candidate is required to reside in Minnesota
A company vehicle and cell phone stipend are provided.
This role covers two Caterpillar dealers: Ziegler Inc and Butler Machinery Company
Must be able to travel up to 50% (Domestic & International)
Domestic relocation will be considered.
No sponsorship / no international relocation will be supported
About Customer Solutions Core Regions Division
The Customer Solutions Core Regions Division is committed to solving customer challenges that extend beyond purchasing machines and parts. This team, alongside dealers, will engage more closely with customers, to create, customize and adapt solutions to meet their needs by leveraging the extensive range of offerings available today across products and services, digital and technology, rental and used, and financing. The division will be regionally on the unique needs of customers in core regions, focused on Americas North, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
