Field Production Engineer – Oil & Gas
Location: Delaware Basin
Pay: $145,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year (DOE)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Production Engineer to support field operations and maximize performance across operated oil and gas assets. This role combines engineering analysis with hands-on field involvement, focusing on improving production efficiency, supporting development programs, and driving long-term asset profitability.
The position includes significant field exposure, leadership opportunities, and collaboration with operations crews, reservoir engineers, and geoscience teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze producing wells and assets to improve production performance and economic returns
- Optimize new and existing wells through artificial lift design, troubleshooting, and intervention planning
- Monitor daily production data to identify operational issues and optimization opportunities
- Work closely with Reservoir Engineers and Geologists to execute development strategies
- Support planning and preparation of AFEs for drilling and operated well projects
- Assist with facility design and ensure infrastructure readiness for timely well connections
- Provide technical guidance to field operations personnel and assist in leading field crews during projects
- Develop economic evaluations and written procedures for optimization and well intervention programs
- Participate in drilling, completion, frac, and production activities when required
- Track operating expenses and assist with LOE/WOE budget analysis
- Evaluate competitor and offset well performance to maintain operational competitiveness
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and production growth
- Provide on-call technical support when needed
Required Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of production operations and artificial lift systems
- Experience with frac completions, drilling operations, and production equipment preferred
- Exposure to heavy mechanical equipment and field operations environments
- Ability to interpret operational KPIs and performance metrics
Software Experience
- Microsoft Office (advanced Excel analysis required)
- Industry tools such as Wellview, Aries, OFM, Spotfire, or similar production software
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Preferred: Petroleum Engineering
- Also considered: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (automation experience a plus)
- Typical experience: 3–5 years preferred (1–3 years considered for strong candidates)
- Demonstrated job stability required (limited job changes preferred)
- Minimum GPA guideline: 3.0 preferred

- Willingness to relocate to Hobbs, New Mexico
- Ability to pass hair follicle drug screening
- Field travel required
