Overview
The Critical Facility Technician III (HVAC) is responsible for maintaining and operating mission-critical mechanical systems in a data center environment. This role ensures equipment reliability, supports 99.999% uptime, and delivers high-quality service without impact to customers.
Systems & Equipment Exposure
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC and mechanical systems
- Monitor facility systems and respond to alarms and emergency situations
- Conduct routine walkthroughs (temperature, humidity, system status)
- Operate and adjust BAS/BMS systems following site procedures
- Maintain accurate records in CMMS and complete service reports
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents
- Follow and execute MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
- Support and oversee vendors and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (LOTO, SDS, etc.)
- Train and support other technicians as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC experience (residential and commercial acceptable)
- Experience in data centers or large industrial/manufacturing environments
- EPA 608 Certification
- Valid, unexpired driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read technical documents and follow procedures
- Basic computer skills (CMMS, reporting systems)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Ability to work overtime and respond to emergencies as needed
- Must comply with all federal, state, and local regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of commercial HVAC experience (Journeyman level)
- HVAC Journeyman License (if required locally)
- 1+ year of data center / mission-critical experience
- OEM or factory training on mechanical systems
