UK Corporate Environmental Sustainability Manager
The Role
We are seeking a UK Corporate Environmental Sustainability Manager to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of environmental sustainability across the DNTS (UK) business unit.
As our in‑house specialist, you will ensure full compliance with UK statutory requirements, government‑driven sustainability obligations, and KBR’s global ESG commitments. You will drive carbon reduction initiatives, strengthen environmental performance, and embed responsible and sustainable practices across operations, projects, supply chain, and employee engagement.
This role is critical in supporting KBR’s mission to deliver a safer, more efficient and more sustainable future while ensuring we maintain trusted partnerships with government and industry clients.
Location
Leatherhead/Hybrid - 3 days in the office
Security Requirements
Due to project security requirements, candidates must be eligible for UK security clearance. This typically requires sole British citizenship and no dual nationality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and line‑manage a full‑time Sustainability Specialist.
Advise the business unit on legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
Develop, deliver and report against the DNTS Carbon Reduction Plan and Environmental Strategy.
Analyse environmental data to drive performance improvement and reduce environmental impact.
Develop and implement a Sustainability Engagement & Communication Plan.
Lead statutory UK environmental reporting, including SECR, ESOS, CBAM, Climate‑Related Financial Disclosures, UK SRS, waste and packaging regulations.
Manage client reporting requirements including PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plans, JOSCAR, and contract‑specific environmental reports.
Support KBR corporate ESG reporting aligned with ISO 14001, GRI, EcoVadis, UNGC, ISO 24000, SBTi, SDGs, TCFD, CDP, ISO 14064‑1:2018.
Support delivery of the Sustainability Supply Chain agenda within DNTS (UK).
Set and monitor internal sustainability reporting standards.
Audit project and site environmental performance and data accuracy.
Use digital tools such as Greenstone (Cority) for environmental data capture and analysis.
Prepare environmental content for tenders, particularly for UK Government contracts.
Support external organisations in verifying the KBR environmental footprint.
Lead business‑unit carbon reduction activities aligned to KBR Inc’s SBTi‑approved net zero targets.
Enhance the social value of our operations alongside the DNTS (UK) Head of Social Value.
Raise awareness of sustainability across the business through collaboration and engagement.
Stay ahead of evolving regulation, policy and best practice in environmental sustainability.
Deliver training and communication to internal stakeholders.
What we Need
Essential
Experience of UK Government contracting models and frameworks (e.g., CCS).
Chartered member of ISEP (or equivalent) OR Practitioner‑level membership with a commitment to achieve Chartered status within 12 months.
Proven leadership of UK environmental reporting at corporate level.
Experience developing and delivering sustainability programmes.
Strong interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent IT, analytical and research skills.
Confident and effective presenter.
Desirable
Recognised Environmental or Sustainability qualification (BSc or equivalent).
Advanced Sustainability qualification (MSc or equivalent).
Experience delivering training.
