Position Overview
The Production Planning Manager will lead the scheduling, coordination, and workflow optimization for a diverse manufacturing environment. The Manager will directly oversee the Planning and Production Administration teams, driving a culture of Continuous Improvement to streamline processes and remove waste.
Must-Have Experiences:
Manufacturing & Planning Experience
- Hands-on experience in production planning and scheduling within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience building and managing Master Production Schedules (MPS)
- Direct experience balancing demand, capacity, labor, and materials
- Experience planning in a multi-SKU, configurable, or engineered-to-order environment
ERP / MRP Systems
- Strong, practical experience using ERP / MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, NetSuite, Epicor, Acumatica)
- Experience maintaining and improving BOM accuracy, routings, lead times, and planning parameters
- Demonstrated ability to use system data, not spreadsheets alone, to drive planning decisions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Experience working closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sales, and Engineering
- Proven ability to translate sales forecasts and customer orders into executable production plans
- Experience managing competing priorities and resolving conflicts between departments
Inventory & Materials Planning
- Experience managing raw material, One-Piece-Flow process, and finished goods inventory
- Demonstrated success improving inventory turns while maintaining service levels
- Experience preventing stockouts and excess inventory through disciplined planning
Capacity & Constraint Management
- Experience identifying and managing capacity constraints and bottlenecks
- Ability to adjust production plans quickly in response to labor shortages, equipment downtime, or material delays
- Experience collaborating with production leadership on shift planning and overtime decisions
Performance Management & KPIs
- Experience tracking and improving on-time delivery, schedule adherence, throughput, and One-Piece-Flow process
- Comfortable using data and KPIs to drive conversations and decisions
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy and efficiency
Change & Problem Solving
- Experience operating in dynamic or fast-changing environments
- Demonstrated ability to respond to disruptions without destabilizing production
- Strong track record of root-cause problem solving in planning and execution
Communication & Leadership
- Experience communicating complex tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority
- Experience leading planning meetings, production reviews, or S&OP discussions
Quality & Compliance Awareness
- Experience planning in environments with quality, regulatory, or safety requirements
- Understanding of how planning decisions impact quality, compliance, and customer risk
Nice-to-Have Experience with S&OP or IBP processes
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure
- Multi-site or multi-shift planning experience
- Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI)
- Prior experience in safety-critical, industrial, or engineered product manufacturing
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuous Improvement- Process Streamlining within the production planning department
- Direct Supervision: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Production Planners and Production Administrators.
- Oversee the Master Production Schedule for Mechanical & Textile
- Manage raw material flow (webbing, hardware, thread) and labor-intensive cut-and-sew scheduling.
- Capacity Planning: Utilize ERP systems to forecast capacity constraints and balance labor loads based on fluctuating demand.
- Inventory Control: optimize inventory levels to prevent stockouts of critical safety components while minimizing carrying costs.
- Report inventory Health and production output to the relevant stakeholders
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between Demand planning, Customer service, Procurement, and Production to align customer requirements with manufacturing capabilities.
- System Optimization: Champion the cleanup and optimization of ERP data (safety stocks, lead times, lot sizes) to ensure accurate automated planning.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field, preferable
- Expert proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics).
- 5-7+ years in manufacturing planning or operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong data analysis skills (Excel/Power BI) for forecasting and reporting.
- Knowledge of demand-based planning
- Experience with Kanban replenishment systems

Pay: $82,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
