The PAC Group (PAC) is seeking an independent contractor to support facility layout and documentation services for a manufacturing environment. This engagement focuses on translating real-world plant conditions into accurate digital layouts and supporting production readiness for new program launches.
Scope of Work (Deliverables-Focused)
The contractor will provide services, including, but not limited to:
- Perform as-built field validation by conducting site measurements and identifying discrepancies between existing drawings and current facility conditions
- Deliver updated two-dimensional AutoCAD layouts reflecting accurate placement of equipment, utilities, and structural elements
- Create and modify facility layouts to support new product launches, including station rearrangements and equipment placement
- Produce detailed layout drawings (sections and elevations) for equipment installation, including clearance zones and facility tie-ins (electrical systems, piping systems, etc.)
- Provide recommendations to optimize workflow and layout efficiency using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Develop and maintain drawing documentation standards, including version control and file management practices
- Translate field sketches, markups, and point cloud data into accurate computer-aided design (CAD) deliverables
Key Requirements (Independent Contractor Criteria)
- Must operate as an independent contractor or registered business entity
- Responsible for determining work schedule, methods, and execution approach to meet deliverables
- Must provide own tools, equipment, and software (including AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Must carry appropriate business insurance (e.g., General Liability insurance; additional coverage as applicable)
- Ability to work onsite as needed to perform field validation and measurements
Technical Qualifications
- 5+ years providing services related to: Facility layout design, Industrial drafting, and Plant engineering environments
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD two-dimensional drafting
- Ability to interpret: Blueprints, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Structural and facility drawings
- Experience performing field verification and translating physical measurements into computer-aided design (CAD)
- Prior work supporting: Equipment installations, New product launches, and Manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with Lean principles (5S methodology, workflow optimization, and layout efficiency)
Preferred Experience
- Experience with three-dimensional modeling tools
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Autodesk Vault)
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and facility safety considerations
- Background in automotive or high-volume manufacturing
Engagement Terms
- Contract Type: Independent contractor (Form 1099)
- Compensation: Hourly or project-based (to be discussed)
- Invoicing: Contractor responsible for submitting invoices per agreed schedule
- Duration: Project-based (potential for extension based on business needs)
