The Aviation Voice Systems Implementation Engineer is responsible for the implementation, integration, and support of air-ground communication systems supporting aviation voice services. The role focuses on RF communication systems including VHF and HF radios, antenna systems, and remote radio site infrastructure, as well as integration with Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and associated radio control interfaces. The engineer will support deployment of new communication systems, system upgrades, and service migrations while troubleshooting operational issues across RF equipment, radio control interfaces, and IP-based voice architectures. Periodic travel to radio sites and operational facilities will be required
This is a hybrid position located at our Annapolis, MD site.
What You Will Do
-
Implement and support air-ground voice communication systems used in aviation operations
-
Deploy and integrate VHF and HF radio systems, including transmitters, receivers, and associated control equipment
-
Support installation and commissioning of antenna systems, RF distribution equipment, and remote radio site infrastructure
-
Integrate radios with Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and associated control interfaces
-
Troubleshoot issues across RF equipment, radio control interfaces, and supporting infrastructure
-
Support system deployments, upgrades, and service migration activities
-
Coordinate implementation activities with field technicians, vendors, and operational stakeholders

Travel to communication sites as required

Qualifications You Must Have
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Experience with VHF and/or HF radio systems used in operational communications environments
-
Experience with RF fundamentals including antennas, propagation, transmission lines, and RF troubleshooting
-
Experience integrating radios with Voice Communication Systems (VCS) or radio control systems
-
Experience with radio control and audio interfaces including 4-wire analog audio, E&M signaling, and serial communication interfaces (RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485)
-
Experience with IP-based radio architectures including ED-137
-
Experience with HF radio systems and understanding of HF propagation concepts affecting long-distance communications
-
Experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, service monitors, network analyzers, or signal generators
-
Experience troubleshooting issues across RF equipment, radio control interfaces, and IP-based radio systems

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
