Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Safety Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Ergonomic Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide proactive safety support to the North American Region. Areas of focus will include establishing training programs to support safety standards and procedures, support of site operations in implementing regional and local safety initiatives, and monitoring progress toward KPI targets.
What you’ll be doing
Coordinate risk‑reduction initiatives across manufacturing sites and parts distribution centers
Identify ergonomic risks related to parts, equipment, elements, and processes, and recommend effective countermeasures
Update ergonomic policies and procedures to strengthen the overall ergonomic management system
Support workforce management activities, including Early Intervention, Job Fit/Silo programs, Workers’ Compensation practices, and associated KPIs
Provide oversight for global Any Member, Any Process (AMAP) activity to maintain continuous part‑improvement efforts and expand the program to include historically complex, high‑risk processes
Conduct root‑cause investigations for ergonomics‑related injuries and other safety concerns
Lead cross‑functional collaboration efforts to develop and implement countermeasures
Collect, interpret, and present data in support of various new‑model and product‑related projects
Develop strategies and plans for targeted ergonomics initiatives
Deliver regular project updates and insights to client leadership and executive teams
Travel up to 30%
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree Occupational Safety & Health, Biomechanics, Industrial Engineering, Public Health, or equivalent degree
1 – 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, and managing safety, production, or engineering projects
Strong written and verbal communication
Strong decision-making, organizational, and analytical skills
Detail oriented and self-motivated
Experience working independently, can also be an effective team member
Pro-active learner and open to constructive feedback
Demonstrated experience managing projects requiring critical thinking (kaizen), problem solving, data analysis & verification
Capable of developing and delivering presentations, generating effective reports, conducting applicable standards research
Ability to generate business plans and strategies appropriate to the work assigned at the business unit level
