What to Expect:
As a part of the Caterpillar team, your first priority will be to put safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries and safety incidents. As an Assembly Inspector, you will calibrate, certify, maintain and repair torque and metrology equipment, and assure machines adhere to quality standards. By inspecting each piece to ensure alignment with design records, engineering standards, and other non-print requirements, you ensure quality is maintained and any defects are identified, addressed, and documented.
Collaboration and skills in prioritization will be key as you work with teams to respond to, manage, and resolve assembly related quality problems while working to meet production schedules. Through your work as an Assembly Inspector, you will support team People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost initiatives.

Pay Rate and Schedule:
The position includes a total compensation extension of $29.60/hour plus a comprehensive Day-One Benefit program. Total compensation above includes a base compensation of $28.35/hr plus an additional shift differential of $1.25/hr. Paid weekly. Paid time-off: Vacation/PTO, holiday, and Winter Holiday*. 401K matching AND additional 2-5% annual company contribution*.
Openings available on 2nd Shift: Monday – Friday, 2 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization. All initial communication and status updates will be via email.
The successful candidate must bring (basic qualifications):
3 years of assembly experience in heavy machine or heavy manufacturing environment
Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawing
3 years of quality assurance experience in manufacturing environments including line inspections
Top Candidates will have:
Prior Caterpillar Paving experience
Previous experience operating CMM instruments and devices
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Experience with calibrating and using torque tools, mechanical tools, inspection hand tools, surface plates, gage blocks, and other setup tools
Utilizing computers for production transactions and experience with Windows, SAP, & Microsoft products
Heavy crane equipment
2 year technical or votech training

Compensation: L06; $28.35/hr plus an additional shift differential of $1.25/hr
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Work Environment
As an inspector, you will be on your feet and active for a minimum of 8 hour shifts and frequently lifting a maximum of 35 pounds.
Our manufacturing facility is a clean environment with frequently changing temperatures that may require climbing on equipment, machines, ladders and various step stools to work at different heights. This position may also require you to work in tight spaces, or in awkward positions including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, forward head, and rotation of neck.
In this position you will operate overhead cranes, use fine motor skills to repetitively grasp, push, pull and rotate, and pull manual torque tools to torque requirements of at least 250 Newton meters. Using overhead cranes will expose you to magnets that may impact medical devices.
All production team members prioritize safety by wearing required PPE such as hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, and protective clothing as required by area.

Summary Pay Range:
$28.35 - $36.23
