Collins Aerospace Materials & Process Engineering Department has an opening for a Metallurgical Materials Engineer. The role requires working with internal engineering customers and suppliers to assist with materials and process (M&P) evaluations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing materials characterization, conducting root cause and failure investigations, and working with external suppliers and internal customers to ensure part quality.
What You Will Do:

Participate in engineering teams as the Materials Engineer for quality investigations.

Validate hardware conformance to material and process specification requirements.
-
Perform testing to validate special processes to internal and industry specifications.
-
Interpret specification requirements and communicate them to suppliers when they ask for clarification.
-
Review changes to engineering prints, with an emphasis on metallic materials and processes.
-
Create and revise standard work for validating special processes when applicable.
-
Support the implementation of Additive Manufacturing materials and process technologies into next generation
-
Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
What you will learn:

Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Hands on experience with metallurgical materials
Qualifications We Prefer:
-
Experience working with welding, joining, and physical metallurgy processes.
-
Experience performing failure analysis and root cause investigations.
-
Knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies and characterization of metallic materials.
-
Experience in technical communication with Suppliers and Customers.
-
Six-Sigma certification (or equivalent).
-
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and results interpretation (Metallography, hardness, fractography, microscopy).

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
