Overview
ABM Industries is seeking a Test Assistant (NETA I) to join our team. The Level I NETA Certified technician is responsible for safe and efficient installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment for customers in the assigned territory. In this role you will travel approximately 20% of the time, and, working under the supervision of Level III or IV Certified technician, are responsible for the performance and management of routine tasks and projects, record keeping, evaluation of test data, and preparation of field service reports
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data on electrical systems.
- Assist Level III and IV certified technicians to maintain, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and service low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, relays, circuit breakers, transformers, sub-stations, and related equipment.
- Assist Level III and IV certified technicians to test and calibrate relays and power metering.
- Under supervision of Level III or IV technician, sample and analyze insulated fluids.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses including but not limited to arc-flash and shock analyses
- Document test results and complete field reports.
- Maintain strict compliance to regulatory laws
Qualifications
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- This is Union position and up to 40% travel is required
- Must be knowledgeable lockout/tagout and hazardous energy control procedures.
- Familiarization with Megger and Omnicron test equipment is a plus.
- Familiar with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards is a plus.
- Familiar with NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
This position will be working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position will be working around electricity and other potential hazards. Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required. Much of our equipment is heavy, so the ability to lift at least 75 pounds is needed.
