Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring a Technical Regulatory Compliance Advanced Technology Engineering Specialist at the Clayton Machine Development Center in Clayton, NC.
Role Summary:
The Technical Regulatory Compliance Advanced Technology Engineering Specialist supports product regulatory compliance programs by performing activities that help manage compliance risk and ensure adherence to applicable product technology, controls, and electronic components and systems regulatory requirements across intended markets. This role partners closely with product, technology, and operations teams to support the development, validation, and production of compliant products.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
- Support product regulatory compliance programs by assisting with the identification, assessment, management, and mitigation of compliance risks related to product technology, controls, and electronic component and system requirements.
- Stay current on applicable regulatory requirements for product technology, controls, and electronic components and systems, and apply this knowledge to Caterpillar products and platforms.
- Use established processes and tools to collect, assess, document, and manage information supporting certification and ongoing regulatory compliance activities.
- Collaborate with product, technology, controls, electronic component and system teams, and product focused R&PC engineers, to ensure products meet applicable regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle (design / development / validation / production).
- Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for processes, tools, and methods used to manage regulatory compliance risks.
- Support cross-functional communication by clearly documenting findings, risks, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
What You Have (Core Skills)
- Data Gathering & Analysis: Ability to collect, document, and synthesize data from multiple sources using established tools and processes to support regulatory compliance decisions.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to process detailed technical and regulatory information with a high degree of accuracy while balancing efficiency and quality.
- Collaborating: Experience working constructively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, compliance, and operations, to achieve shared regulatory and business objectives.
- Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Ability to organize relevant data, assess risks and alternatives, and support informed, well-documented compliance-related decisions.
- Risk Management: Working knowledge of identifying and managing regulatory and business risks using established organizational tools and resources.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fields.
- Progressive and extensive experience in product and/or technology regulatory compliance related roles.
- Experience interacting directly or indirectly with governmental or industry organizations involved with product or technology-focused regulations and standards.
- Experience supporting technology, controls, and electronic component and system integration product development or validation activities.
- Experience using product safety Risk Assessment [Bow-tie, Lopa, PHA, MCSSA, etc…] and Functional Safety methodologies to demonstrate/document compliance. Familiarity with IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 19014, ISO 13849, or ISO 26262 is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with leaders, engineering teams, regulatory partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.

- Work arrangement: This position requires 5 days per week in the office (Monday–Friday)
Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
