Lead Health IT Informatics Analyst
The Leidos Health & Services Sector is seeking a full-time Lead Health IT Informatics Analyst to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help transform how it collects, manages, analyzes, and utilizes health data, to transform and improve care for Veterans.
The Lead Health IT Informatics Analyst is the primary technical authority for EHR system configuration and health IT informatics analysis activities on the task order. This individual must possess extensive, hands-on experience with the configuration of VA's Federal EHR (Oracle Health/MHS Genesis) and/or the legacy VistA/CPRS system, the foundational clinical platforms that underpin healthcare delivery for over 9 million Veterans across more than 1,200 VA healthcare facilities nationwide.
This role leads a team of Health IT Informatics Analysts, establishing technical direction, quality standards, and configuration governance for all EHR-related informatics work. The Lead must be equally proficient in translating clinical requirements into system configuration specifications and in evaluating the downstream impact of configuration decisions on clinical workflows, data integrity, interoperability, and reporting. This individual also serves as the technical bridge between the Clinical Informatics Director's clinical requirements and the technical execution teams.
Primary Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
- Lead and direct a team of Health IT Informatics Analysts, establishing work plans, reviewing deliverables for quality and accuracy, and ensuring all health IT informatics work meets VA and industry standards.
- Serve as the primary technical authority for configuration of Federal EHRM (Oracle Health/MHS Genesis) and/or VistA/CPRS, including order catalog management, clinical decision support rules, clinical documentation templates, medication management configurations, and ancillary service interface design.
- Conduct detailed analysis of clinical workflow requirements, translating them into actionable EHR configuration specifications and system design documents in accordance with VA build standards and governance processes.
- Manage the VistA/CPRS to Federal EHR (Oracle Health/MHS Genesis) transition configuration activities, including data mapping, legacy content assessment, and build verification testing.
- Develop and maintain configuration documentation, including system design documents, build specifications, test scripts, and configuration tracking logs.
- Participate in system testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing of EHR configuration changes.
- Coordinate with VA OIT, VHA clinical stakeholders, and Oracle Health implementation teams to resolve configuration issues, clarify requirements, and obtain necessary build approvals.
- Support training curriculum development and delivery related to EHR system configuration and workflow changes for VHA clinical and administrative staff.
- Ensure all system configurations comply with applicable VA Directives, HL7 standards, ONC interoperability requirements, HIPAA security rule specifications, and VA Enterprise Architecture guidelines.
- Provide Health IT configuration subject matter expertise for proposal activities, oral presentations, and technical demonstrations as required under the task order.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a health IT analyst with at least 5 years of hands-on configuration experience with VA VistA/CPRS and/or Oracle Health.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of health IT analysts on a federal or VA healthcare program.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, and surgery in a VA or comparable integrated healthcare system.
- Familiarity with HL7 v2 messaging, HL7 FHIR APIs, and clinical interoperability standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA CAC/PIV access and complete all required VA mandatory training through TMS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle Health Cerner Millennium training or demonstrated advanced-level proficiency in one or more Cerner domain areas (Scheduling, Orders, Pharmacy, Clinical Documentation).
- Extensive VistA/CPRS configuration experience including FileMan, menu management, order entry/results reporting (OE/RR), and HL7 interface management.
- Experience with VA's EHR Modernization (EHRM) program and participation in site deployments at VA Medical Centers.
- Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential from AHIMA.
- Familiarity with VA VINCI data access, CPRS Chart Review, and VA CDW (Corporate Data Warehouse) analytic tools.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
