Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting and Reporting assists in the day-to-day Controllership operations of the Studio Support and Participations & Residuals Accounting team, and is involved in a wide range of accounting and reporting areas. The role is in a fast-paced Studio headquarters environment, interfaces with various teams and has opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Support the accounting and reporting functions of Universal Domestic Theatrical Reporting and Focus Features, including managing their Fixed Assets processes and assisting in miscellaneous cash application.
- Support the accounting and reporting functions of Universal Studio Group (USG) participations and residuals accounting, including preparation of monthly participations and residuals by-title rollforward
- Key contributor to the monthly and quarterly close and financial reporting processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses and supporting schedules.
- Prepare key schedules within the quarterly Balance Sheet Review package.
- Prepare NBCU Corporate data request submissions, gathering and consolidating information from various sources.
- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives and opportunities to build efficiencies into existing reporting routines.
- Work closely with other groups such as FP&A and Financial Contract Administration & Reporting
- Perform technical accounting research as needed, and assist with ad-hoc projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Exceptional Excel skills and working knowledge of PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.
- Excellent Project Management skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy, proactive approach to problem solving.
Desired Characteristics:
- CPA or on path to obtaining CPA license preferred.
- Knowledge of Analysis for Excel (AOE) / SAP preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across the organization
- Inquisitive and eager to learn; strong business acumen
- Takes initiative; able to identify issues and make recommendations for solutions
- Solid work ethic and follow through
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Flexible and able to take on new challenges as they arise
- Accounting background in the entertainment industry is preferred
Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
