Overview:
The Midland Financial Controller is a key finance leader, responsible for managing the Midland finance function, and also a key member of the Midland leadership team. The role is a strategic business partner to the Midland Operations Manager, partnering closely with manufacturing and operations teams to drive efficiency, cost control, and financial performance. This role combines traditional controllership responsibilities with a strong operational focus, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This is both a strategic and tactical leadership position, with key pillars of activity that include definition, deployment and management of Midland’s annual operating plan; balance-sheet assessment and management; driving continuous improvement in Finance and related business processes; and being a key leader and business partner to the Midland leadership team.
The role requires an action-oriented finance leader with a track record of supporting business outperformance and continuous improvement as a finance leader. The ideal candidate will bring a balanced background covering FP&A, Controllership and Operational Finance experience from a manufacturing/industrial environment. Additionally, the role requires a leader with the ability to change altitude as needed to drive strategic initiatives as well as tactical needs.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the Midland leadership team and strategic partner to the Midland Operations Manager, providing financial, operational, and commercial support and guidance; Develop and implement financial strategies for the Midland business unit. Provide vision and leadership to drive both short- and long-range growth while supporting OPW and FTS business objectives and key initiatives
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the Midland organization and work closely with Midland leadership team to develop and lead an effective strategic, business, and human resource planning process
- Ensure that Midland financial reporting is accurate, timely, and in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and in compliance with OPW and Dover Accounting policies
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance procedures
- Ensure the monthly general ledger, reconciliations and close processes are completed in a timely and quality manner
- Prepare financial statements and appropriate detailed analysis of the operations of Midland for management and submission to OPW and Dover Corp., as well as all periodic reports to government and tax authorities
- Work in a shared service environment where you will indirectly manage GL, AR, AP and Tax teams while still maintaining ownership of the Financial Statements for the business.
- Responsible for ensuring business unit has successful documentation, procedures, testing & all internal & external financial audits; maintaining full compliance with all requirements
- Ensure compliance with all quality regulations, standards and corporate policies including but AAR M-1003 for assigned department
- Analyze operations to identify trends in the business; recommend and implement specific corrective actions when warranted
- Partner with plant leadership to analyze production costs, labor efficiency, & material usage
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor plant and operational efficiency
- Lead cost accounting processes including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
- Drive initiatives to improve margins, reduce waste, and optimize operational performance
- Prepare capital expenditure proposals for various aspects of Midland and monitor the investment performance against the proposal. Ensure effective processes are in place
- Manage, mentor, and develop one direct report
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and senior leadership
- Lead the development of Midland’s Annual Operating Plan, considering income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow dynamics and ongoing forecast cycles
- Provide detailed financial analysis to support strategic planning and operational decisions
- Monitor performance against budget and provide actionable insights
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies
- Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience working in an ERP system such as Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Experience working in a financial consolidation system such as OneStream.
- Demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker and experienced at developing business and financial plans for short- and long-term results.
- Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing finance
- Strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment with the ability to analyze cost variances to drive process improvements.
- Track record as an operationally oriented finance leader and business partner, able to drive performance across the organization

Pay Range: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00
