Job Description
The Mastering Coordinator supports NBCUniversal’s Studio Mastering organization by coordinating mastering and sub-mastering workflows that enable timely, accurate delivery of content across the company’s distribution supply chain. This role translates customer and distribution requirements into executable mastering workflows, identifies appropriate source materials, and partners with internal teams, StudioPost Operations, and external vendors to ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with Studio Mastering technical specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Order Management & Workflow Execution
- Interpret mastering requests and distribution requirements, translating high-level orders into detailed, executable workflows.
- Define mastering and sub-mastering approaches based on specifications, delivery formats, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Serve as a day-to-day point of coordination for assigned mastering work, escalating risks and issues as needed.
- Prime contact for editorial workflow support, assisting editors and workflow specific to editorial projects and servicing
- Cross-Functional & Vendor Coordination
- Partner with StudioPost Operations Project Managers to ensure work is completed on schedule and within approved budgets.
- Coordinate with third-party service providers to support mastering and sub-mastering execution.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Studio Mastering leadership regarding job status, priorities, and technical considerations.
- Asset Research & Source Element Identification
- Research inventory systems and historical records to determine the most appropriate source elements for each mastering request.
- Collaborate with Studio Mastering subject-matter experts to leverage knowledge of asset history, specifications, and condition.
- Tracking, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report job-level metrics, including status, work completed, remaining scope, and cost-to-date.
- Contribute to ongoing evaluation and improvement of mastering specifications, workflows, and operational processes.
- Stay current with evolving mastering standards, delivery specifications, and industry trends.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in motion picture or television post-production.
- 3+ years of experience in film, video, and/or audio post-production environments.
- Solid understanding of physical and file-based mastering workflows.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience utilizing Smartsheets and Dolby version
- Experience supporting studio-level mastering or distribution operations.
- Understanding of feature film and television production and post-production lifecycles.
- Ability to identify workflow efficiencies and support best-practice implementation.
- Strong customer service mindset and collaborative communication style.
Additional Requirements:
- Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
