Program Summary
KBR maintains and manages Army prepositioned stocks at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston (AFSBn-CHS) land site to include all logistics and maintenance operations. The KBR APS-3 Program is managed and executed at Goose Creek in support of the Army’s power projection doctrine and resources. The contract provides maintenance of APS-3 stocks (Class II, IIIP, IV, VII, IX) to ensure that unit sets are configured and maintained at optimal readiness. KBR also provides maintenance services and logistical support for other Army programs, IAW individual scope of work contract requirements.
Job Summary
The Supply Technician is a key member of the Local Purchase team. The Local Purchase section consists of five employees and supports a workforce of 400+ personnel working in maintenance, supply, and logistics fields in support of a US Army program. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong maintenance background to enable effective communication with the mechanics whom they support. This position also communicates with the vendors providing repair parts and services.
The Supply Technician processes purchase requests in support of the maintenance teams who need repair parts for commercial and military equipment, for example HMMWVs, trailers, all terrain vehicles, forklifts, generators, etc. This position processes significant amounts of paperwork and requires adherence to established procedures. Approximately 85% or more of the work week will be spent working on a computer. Supported equipment includes both military and commercial. Commercial equipment is not always accompanied by the detailed Commercial Manual and therefore requires diligent coordination with mechanics to correctly define requirements.
For a candidate with a strong mechanical background and the aptitude for processes, the specifics of the processes and the computer systems are trainable while on the job.
Roles and Responsibilities
Work in support of mechanics, review parts requests and service requests for accuracy and communicate with supported maintenance shops. Research parts and services to prepare Requests for Quote.
Organize paperwork as directed; all work stations will be standardized
Update spreadsheet / database / folders with information & stauses daily
Request vendor information by email and over the phone
Requests approvals as directed before proceeding with Requests / Orders
Order parts by various methods and track parts and request status updates
Coordinate with vendor &/or corporate regarding any scheduling or documentation required
Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, processing returns as required
Follow up regarding CostPoint (KBR’s system) requisitions and receiving
Prepare purchase card reconciliations
Drive pickup truck to pick up parts off site as needed
Assist in cross-training co-workers as needed / requested by supervisor/lead
Learn and comply with all regulations / guidelines / policies / requirements at APS-3
Complete all required training (Annual training, GCSS, KBR, Pcard, CostPoint, etc)
Finalize work folders and scan or complete digital folder as required
Perform other duties as assigned, including being loaned out to other departments as needed
Background as a mechanic is desirable to understand terminology and improve ability to communicate with mechanics.
Basic Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to pass background check to obtain and maintain local base access.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Requires a High school diploma or equivalent. Some additional education preferred but not required.
Must be very detail oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize
Requires at least 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
Must be familiar with purchasing and logistics; some familiarity with accounting preferred but not required.
Must be familiar with commercial and military equipment maintenance (forklifts, ATV’s, humvee’s etc), especially as it relates to technical manuals and identifying correct parts and service required for certain repairs.
Must be able to interact with Quality department regarding writing SOW’s for services.
Must be familiar with MS Office and be proficient with computer usage. Experience with databases, G-Army, Deltek, CostPoint, etc preferred.
Must possess a valid Real ID State Driver’s License.
Must comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. This includes working overtime as required to support the work schedule, occasionally working as much as seven 10-hour days per week.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand - between 2 to 3 hours per day.
Must be able to walk - between 4 to 5 hours per day.
Must be able to Lift - up to 30 lbs.
Must be able to squat, kneel, bend, reach and climb periodically.
Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.
