Raytheon is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Optics Electronics department in McKinney, TX. The OE department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for a range of products including advanced forward-looking infrared sensors, complex pointing and tracking subsystems, and electronics that support video processing and stabilization of imaging systems. The team leverages digital, analog, and power design skills to provide support throughout the product lifecycle from architecture and design through initial low-rate production.
What You Will Do
-
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary electrical engineering and hardware design team, with the primary objective of creating firmware solutions for new design hardware and new design architectures.

Implement firmware updates with requirements and algorithms defined by subject matter experts (SMEs) in a laboratory environment.

Simulate, implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware updates, support design reviews, and perform as an integrator of the firmware.

Work in the product development team environment with systems, mechanical, and software engineers.
-
This position may require occasional business-related travel.
Qualifications You Must Have
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.

Experience in FPGA Logic design and verification, SoC’s and real-time microcontrollers.
-
Electrical Engineering and/or related technology proficiency.
-
Experience in testing products using FPGA debugging tools.
-
Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: PCIe & Gigabit Ethernet & High speed data standards e.g. GigE Vision/ HD-SDI, CoaXpress, Aurora, and/or CameraLink.

Experienced with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA/SoCs (Zynq, Kintex/Virtex Ultrascale and newer).

Experience of image sensor integration, e.g. new visible and IR cameras.
Qualifications We Prefer

Knowledge of video optimization or control systems such as:

Non-uniformity correction, Color Correction, or Exposure Control.

Contrast Enhancement, Video Processing.

Brushless DC motor control.

Electro-mechanical image stabilization.

MATLAB and Simulink w/ HDL Coder.

Experience in low volume, high complexity development environments.

Multi-Gigabit transceivers, DDR and flash memories.

Background in Sensor and Read Out IC.

Experience working on Agile Teams using JIRA.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
