We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to take on the role of Development Item Lead in an exciting Scrum agile environment. This position offers the opportunity to lead and inspire a small development team, drive innovation, and make a tangible impact on our programs by developing and delivering capability to our customers. We are looking for a highly collaborative and driven Development Lead to work as part of a larger multi-discipline team of systems, hardware, software and test engineers and program subject matter experts (SMEs). In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring and managing an efficient full life cycle software development of our hardware/software solutions.
The Department’s mission is to provide world class Radar Software to be used in military systems deployed at sea and on land. Our software teams employ an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, integrate and test capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers.
This position is full-time on-site in Marlborough Massachusetts.
What You Will Do

Strategic Communication: Serve as a subject-matter expert in communicating technical strategies to stakeholders, supporting alignment of organizational objectives with engineering initiatives.

Program Management: Develop a Software Development Plan (SDP), Manage engineering programs and processes with minimal oversight, overseeing workflows, ensuring stability, and driving innovation across multiple platforms. Perform EVMS as required to ensure program performance.

Implementation: Perform Software Architecture and Requirements development and lead subsystem software development using a CI/CD pipeline and development environment, working with leadership to support alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Priority Management: With support from leadership, manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Team Leadership: Coach, review and delegate work across the development team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment that drives excellence and continuous improvement.

Problem Resolution: Resolve technical challenges with innovative solutions, ensuring system stability and optimal performance.

Collaborate Across Disciplines/Customers: Work closely with colleagues across System, Hardware and Test Engineering, Digital Technology (DT), Safety, and Cyber to achieve shared goals.

Debug and Integrate: Tackle stability issues, while integrating and testing embedded real-time embedded and application software on Linux and Windows platforms.

Maintain & Modernize Development Environment: Work with tools like ClearCase, Perl, Jenkins, Smartbear Collaborator, Grafana, Coverity, Matlab and more, while supporting migration to cutting-edge container-based development environment that includes Git, GitLab.

Work with Platform Engineer organization to help stand up development environment.
Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Experience using C and C++ or Java.

Experience in software architecture and requirements development for embedded real time applications.

Experience with automation and scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python.

Experience provide guidance in debugging, testing, and maintaining complex development ecosystems.

Experience with tools like ClearCase, Git, GitLab, and similar platforms.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U. S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
