Job Title
Senior Product Documentation Specialist
We are seeking a Senior Product Documentation Specialist to lead documentation for our merchant services and payment acceptance products. In this highly cross-functional role, you will partner with Product, Engineering, Support, and Integration Delivery to build and scale a documentation program that enables developers, merchants, sales partners, and internal teams to successfully implement, troubleshoot, and support our technology.
You bring strong technical fluency, can quickly get to the “why” behind complex systems, and translate that understanding into clear, usable content. You will also help advance our documentation strategy by standing up and advocating for modern AI-enabled documentation workflows that improve quality, consistency, and speed, without compromising accuracy or governance.
Primary responsibilities
Own and evolve developer documentation end-to-end: Create and maintain API and SDK references, authentication/error guidance, sample requests/responses, Postman collections, and step-by-step integration guides for in-store and in-app payment solutions.
Drive documentation strategy and information architecture: Establish standards for structure, templates, terminology, style, and content lifecycle management across products and audiences.
Lead release communications for technical audiences: Produce clear internal and external release notes, upgrade guidance, and enablement materials that keep Support, Sales, and internal teams aligned and effective.
Operate as a technical partner to Product and Engineering: Proactively gather requirements, validate technical accuracy, and influence product readiness by identifying documentation gaps, ambiguity, or integration friction early.
Champion continuous improvement through measurement: Use feedback loops and available signals (support trends, integration issues, stakeholder input, doc usage) to prioritize and improve documentation outcomes.
Stand up and advocate for AI-assisted documentation tooling: Evaluate and help implement AI tooling and workflows for tasks like content drafting, summarization, consistency checks, and taxonomy/metadata—aligned with quality controls and stakeholder needs.
What You Need to Have:
Associate or bachelor’s degree required; equivalent work experience considered
5+ years’ experience in technical writing / product documentation (or related role), with developer-facing documentation as a primary focus
Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical systems (APIs, SDKs, authentication, error handling, integrations) and communicate them clearly to different audiences
Strong writing, editing, and information design skills; exceptional attention to detail
Experience partnering with Engineering and Product to validate technical accuracy and influence outcomes
Experience building or scaling documentation standards, templates, and reusable content patterns
Strong user empathy and a customer-outcome mindset (developers, merchants, partners, internal enablement teams)
You will shape how customers, partners, and internal teams understand, integrate, and support our payment solutions. We value clarity, collaboration, and practical innovation and we invest in documentation that improves product adoption, reduces support friction, and elevates the developer experience.
To be considered: Please submit your resume and writing sample(s) that demonstrate your ability to create developer documentation, user guides, or in-app help content.
You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.
