Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
Minimum of 4 to 5 years of accounting experience with an emphasis in the real estate industry
Experience in both public accounting and private industry accounting
Experience with investment companies
Skills:
Be conscientious about achieving deadlines and have an accurate work product

Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
Detail-oriented and very analytical

Familiar with consolidating and equity method of accounting

Responsibilities:
The position will be supervised by a Fund Controller. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the review and oversight of the accounting for operating real estate assets performed by third party fee managers. The position also entails fund level accounting and the consolidation of fund level financial statements. The position is generally responsible for approximately 15 to 20 investments and their related funds.
Review all property management financial reports on the individual assets
Record the fair value adjustment for investments in real estate and debt
Record equity in earnings for joint ventures
Record minority interest for consolidated entities
Record Fund related transactions
Consolidate all investments within a Fund
Draft quarterly Fund financial statements
Interact with property accountants, banking personnel and asset managers
Draft financial information related to client quarterly questionnaires
Prepare Fund cash management transactions
Record and reconcile financial information
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual client reports
Prepare annual cash audit work papers
Prepare annual audit and tax work papers
Prepare internal and external performance returns
Prepare monthly Fund level bank reconciliations for checking accounts
Calculate and prepare statements of cash flows
Be able to establish educational goals necessary to enhance job skills
Be able to enhance technological skills
Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization, i.e., Excel, Word, MRI (general ledger), Outlook E-Mail, and Internet research tools
Able to organize and summarize information in writing and to proofread work

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $110,000 - $131,250
