Oracle Health is seeking a highly experienced, client-facing Principal Consultant with deep expertise in Oracle (Cerner) Millennium and custom development to join our Federal Edge & Analytics team. You will lead the design, troubleshooting, enhancement, and support of Millennium custom solutions—primarily using CCL, Discern Rules, MPages, and Discern Analytics 2.0 (DA2) (and related reporting/utility tooling)—to solve real customer clinical and operational problems.
This role requires strong critical thinking and comfort operating in ambiguity, especially when requirements are incomplete or urgent. You will work across technical, clinical, and functional stakeholders to clarify needs, document decisions, obtain approvals, and drive deliverables to completion.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
-
Serve as a senior consultant for federal customers, owning the delivery of Millennium custom development work across Millennium applications (PowerChart/FirstNet/Revenue Cycle, PharmNet, DA2, etc.) from intake through implementation and sustainment.
-
Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of custom scripts, rules, reports, and utilities; document findings, recommend options, and execute fixes.
-
Partner with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and workflow objectives, translate those needs into technically sound designs, document decisions and secure stakeholder approvals prior to build/deployment.
-
Design, develop, enhance, and support custom solutions using CCL, Discern Rules, MPages, DA2 reporting (and other programming languages/analytics as appropriate).
-
Work within an agile delivery approach (planning, estimation, execution, and transparent status reporting).
-
On-Call / Incident Response & Release Support: Serve in a rotating on-call incident response rotation with the team, including triage, troubleshooting, coordination, and communication through resolution. Provide heightened support following deployments (for changes/releases the consultant implements) to ensure stability and to rapidly remediate any critical production issues post go-live.
What We’re Looking For (Behavioral Expectations)
-
Critical thinking & judgment: Quickly assesses ambiguous or incomplete information, identifies gaps/risks/dependencies, and proposes practical options with clear tradeoffs (patient care/workflow impact, performance, maintainability, risk).
-
Independent execution & ownership: Works with minimal direction; proactively drives work from intake through resolution, including clarifying requirements, creating an action plan, and delivering to agreed timelines.
-
Fast, structured problem solving: Efficiently triages incidents and defects, isolates root cause (not just symptoms), and implements durable fixes while communicating status and next steps to stakeholders.
-
Organization & follow-through: Maintains accurate documentation and artifacts (requirements, decisions, build notes, test evidence, release notes), keeps action/RAID items current, and ensures closure with appropriate approvals.
-
Familiarity with Oracle SQL, Oracle APEX, Python, HTML/JavaScript (useful for utilities, data workflows, or MPages).
Join Oracle Health’s Federal Edge & Analytics team and help deliver mission-critical EHR capabilities for our federal customers. In this role, your work directly supports clinicians and care teams serving service members, Veterans, and tribal communities—improving access to information, strengthening clinical workflows, and increasing reliability of systems that matter.
You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals solving complex, real-world problems at scale, with opportunities to lead high-impact troubleshooting and development efforts, mentor others, and help shape best practices for federal healthcare delivery.
