Cognitive Enhancement is an interdisciplinary field that uses evidence-based psychological, neurocognitive, and psychophysiological tests to assess and enhance various aspects of cognitive/psychological performance.
The Special Operations Cognitive Enhancement Practitioner (CEP)shall interpret test results and provide feedback and recommendations to Service Members based on assessment results. Provides connections with or referrals toadditionalPOTFF or medical resources whenappropriate basedon assessment results and other data collected. The CEP shall perform the following functions:
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Train and educateactive dutypersonnel in specific cognitive and behavioral skills to enhance cognitive/psychological performance toinclude:attention/concentration training, problem-solving training, emotional regulation, energy management, memory enhancement, interpersonal skills,goal-setting, andmTBIrelated deficits or compensatory mechanisms. Training shallutilizeevidence-based practices and occur in both individual and group settings.
Document work performed, domain/billetutilization, referrals, and all other information requested by POTFF Leadership.
Required Education/Experience/Skills/Training:
The contractormustpossessa doctoral degree in a field of Psychology, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Sport Sciences with a specialization in Sport Psychology, or related degree with performance psychology specialization.
The CEP shall have a minimum of 3 years or morepost-doctoratedegreewithin the past five years of demonstrable accumulated experience practicing performance psychology, or a related field with military members, athletes and groups of athletes at the levels of NCAA Collegiate, Olympic, or professional sports, or other individuals or groups requiring high levels of mental and physical performance (experience with Special Operations personnel preferred).
Biofeedback certification (BCIA), neurofeedback certification (BCIA), and / or International QEEG Certification Board (IQCB) certificationmay be required by hiringunit. The contractor shall have experience, or willingness to receive training, in the interpretation of computerized neurocognitive testing
The contractor shall be capable of properly lifting and manipulating loads or weights up to 25 kilograms and capable of meeting physical demands of training with SOF including the ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments and on various fixed or rotary wing aircraft, waterborne craft, or ground transport to observe SOF training evolutions and to conduct training and education.
The gaining unit mayelectto have CEP positions credentialed and privilegedin order toexpand capabilities of the position and allow for clinical care whenappropriate.Possession of, or eligibility for, a state license to practice in the fields of mental health, counseling, psychology, or social work is beneficial, but notrequired.Healthcare professionals mustpossessa current, full,activeand unrestricted license to practice in any of the U.S. States, the District of Columbia, Guam, PuertoRicoor the U.S. Virgin Islands.
