Google SkillBridge Fellowship: Data Center Operations (Cohort 26-3)

- Roles: We have two teams participating in our data centers. Please read below for the role breakdown, qualifications, and locations.
The Role: Data Center Facilities Technician (DCT)
Google Data Centers are the engine of the internet. This onsite, in-person fellowship is designed to prepare transitioning service members for critical roles supporting our physical infrastructure. DCTs focus on the "Heartbeat" of the facility, working hands-on with large-scale mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, industrial generators, and power distribution.
Candidate Qualifications
- Technical Foundations: Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems (Power Generation, Fluid Systems, Critical Electronics) gained through military service or trade work.
- Mission-First Mindset: A strong commitment to safety procedures and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Relocation Readiness: You must be willing to relocate to a hiring site (listed below) upon successful completion of the fellowship.

The Role: Data Center Technician, Global Server Operations (GSO)
As an Operations Technician at Google, you will be hands-on with the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers Google's global network and AI capabilities. This onsite, in-person fellowship, will include installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining server hardware, network components, and cluster software. This is a physically active role where you will frequently deploy new equipment, move racks, ensure data security, and perform preventative maintenance alongside a collaborative project team.
Candidate Qualifications:
Experience assembling mechanical/electrical systems or performing component-level troubleshooting on technical equipment. This role requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and sustain extended physical exertion (bending, climbing, pulling, etc.), as well as the flexibility to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift work.
Ideally, you have at least 1 year of experience diagnosing IT equipment, operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols (e.g., in a help desk, sysadmin, or network deployment role). Strong candidates will also be adaptable in dynamic environments, collaborate effectively with teams to overcome challenges, and accurately execute frequent verbal and written instructions.
