SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Planner Technician is a hands-on “working planner” role responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing and facility equipment while also coordinating and planning maintenance activities through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This position supports production uptime by executing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, planning scheduled work, coordinating resources and parts availability, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Planner Technician works collaboratively with maintenance leadership and operations teams to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to production.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, machine guarding, and OSHA compliance standards.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure.
- Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automated systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled and automated equipment.
- Diagnose and repair paint line systems, conveyors, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and production machinery.
- Perform maintenance welding using electric arc or gas processes as required.
- Install, relocate, and commission new machinery and equipment.
- Maintain facility systems including electrical, compressed air, water, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding gas systems.
- Repair and maintain the physical structure of the facility as needed.
- Operate maintenance equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other powered industrial equipment.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance work areas.
Maintenance Planning & CMMS Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Create, prioritize, schedule, and track maintenance work orders.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities with production and operations teams.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance program.
- Ensure maintenance procedures, work instructions, and PM documentation are accurate and up to date.
- Assist in planning labor requirements and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Ensure required spare parts, tools, and materials are available prior to scheduled maintenance activities.
- Assist with spare parts inventory management and MRO inventory control.
- Enter purchase requisitions and track orders through Oracle or applicable purchasing systems.
- Coordinate outside contractors and service providers as directed by maintenance leadership.
- Track maintenance performance metrics and prepare maintenance reports as required.
- Maintain maintenance logs, TPM records, and regulatory documentation.
- Log labor hours and completed work activities within the CMMS system.
- Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Complete all assigned work orders and projects within established timelines.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Identify opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability, maintenance procedures, planning efficiency, and cost reduction. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Accountability:
Accept responsibility for assigned maintenance tasks, planning functions, and maintenance initiatives. Balance urgency, quality, and productivity while meeting deadlines and operational objectives.
Training:
Maintain and improve technical skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, and maintenance planning disciplines.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, and relay logic systems.
- Experience using CMMS systems for work order management and preventive maintenance scheduling.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
- Working knowledge of spare parts inventory and MRO purchasing processes preferred.
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and coordinate maintenance activities effectively.
Personal Tool Requirements:
Employee must provide tools necessary to perform maintenance duties, including:
- Standard mechanical hand tools
- Voltage tester
- Welding hood and related PPE
Supervision:
Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor. Works independently with minimal supervision while coordinating with maintenance and operations teams.
Responsibility:
Exercises moderate to high degree of judgment in maintenance execution, planning, scheduling, and troubleshooting activities. Escalates unusual or critical issues to maintenance leadership as appropriate.
