Who: You are a highly analytical investor, corporate development or investment banker professional with the demonstrable ability to lead and execute within complex organizations, and possess an understanding of the healthcare landscape, venture and/or growth-stage companies, emerging trends and capabilities, investment themes, and the venture capital community.
Details: The Associate, CVS Health Ventures, will have accountability for mid and late-stage venture investments in CVS Health Ventures’ dedicated growth equity fund. As well as working collaboratively with our early-stage venture fund, and other cross-team team goals focused on broader enterprise innovation support and value-add activities.
Responsibilities will include managing the end-to-end deal process as well as continued portfolio and relationship management. Additionally, they will be responsible for ongoing support across the full Ventures team platform in the following ways:
- Diligence: The Associate will manage the deal diligence process. The individual will be primary driver of financial modelling, memo development and communicate and build consensus with principals and partners on the team. They will have the ability to drive the end-to-end process in preparing executive level materials to persuade investment decisions.
- Sourcing: The Associate will be expected to identify new investment themes, manage thesis development process and, qualify specific sourcing opportunities to determine fit against CVS Health Ventures criteria and help the team “win the deal.” They will be responsible for representing CVS Health Ventures in external forums and building connections to the rapidly evolving external healthcare environment, proactively identifying opportunities to accelerate growth and innovation, and delivering against specific opportunities through investments and supporting partnerships.
- Execution: The Associate will be a key representative on behalf of the team to both start-up leadership and internal business units
- Portfolio Support: The Associate will represent CVS Health Ventures in supporting team member board director and observer seats, helping with portfolio companies to provide “value-add” activities. These activities could include evaluating debt opportunities, follow-on capital raise, and M&A.
Additionally, the Associate will be responsible for developing and communicating strategic insights which will support investment thesis development and strategic communication with internal CVS Health business units. This role will partner with senior leaders (Exec. Director/VP) to identify and explore strategic investment areas that will enhance our existing capabilities or enable new products/services. The Associate will have influence on CVS Health business strategies through relationships at these senior levels and demonstration of strong expertise in digital health and health care innovation.
The Associate will work collaboratively with peers to execute on behalf of the program goals. They will also help ensure a successful team culture.
Overall, the Associate will hold a key position within the broader CVS Health Ventures strategy in ensuring success of the growth equity investment program.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience (excluding internships) in business roles-corporate development, venture capital/private equity or investment banking
- 2+ years of experience evaluating and supporting strategic relationships and/or investments
- Experience with financial modeling and data analysis, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience evaluating and executing venture capital and/or growth equity private company investments. Or investment banking experience.
- Strong communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence across functions at all levels of an organization
- Strong executive level presentation skills, with experience developing compelling presentations that distill complex data, market trends, and investment insights into clear, concise, and actionable messaging for senior executives including familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Demonstrates high level of independent judgment and proactivity
- Financial analysis skills in a venture capital setting, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized and able to provide positive leadership across multiple work streams in a fast-paced, complex working environment that can be ambiguous at times
- Experience leading and collaborating in high performing teams
- Validated project management skills with an emphasis on integrating multiple work outputs into a unified deliverable
- Demonstrated collaborative work style with ability to work and across diverse teams
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$101,970.00 - $203,940.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
